What should we do about this?

Does anyone have any ideas about how we can properly serve any justice, if possible, and how can we prevent something like this from happening in the future?

well...ever thought about changing the weapon-laws in your country (the most wondefull und best country in this world :D )??

ooh..rigt...everybody has the right to have a weapon...i forgott...everybody in the usa needs a gun..!!! *sarcasm*

i mean..if everybody would have had a gun inside this university...seung-hui wouldnt have been able to kill so many people..***sarcasm***

or ever thought about, what made this guy do sth like this? do u think he just woke up that morning with this unusual wish to kill as many students as possible?? it takes a long time for such a disaster to happen...it takes a lot of little things that in the end turn out as such a big thing..

on my opinion, its not unexplainable, why so many people go amok in the usa...ur way of life, your schoolsystem, your shallow friendships and the way you act yourself through life makes every normal person go crazy...

i don't have much to add. fwl89 is completely right. you just have to change your laws and to use your brains.

is there more than a hand full of persons which are really interessted in the question "why?". i don't think so.

they just asking: who is guilty?
not: what should WE do.
and the best reaction is: if everybody would have had a gun they could have killed him after the first shot. oh my god, is there somebody who really thinks this is the normal way of using the brain god gave you all?

stop selling guns and that's it. here you only can buy guns illegal or if you have made several tests and nearly noone has a gun. and if there are no guns, there is no amok shit.

well that's easy ... stop selling guns on every corner. it's funny but this has only happened in US (in such major scale) ... how can a non-citizen buy a weapon??? Hello are you all out of your mind ... firstly do not elect gun-lovers such as Mr. Bush and ban all weapon-protection offices!!!

Sorry to say but maybe you should start thinking of how to prevent people to buy guns in every corner. It's strange, no, that this ONLY happens in US.

This isn't a political issue, but rather an issue of being there for the families and friends of the lost. Sign the petition to celebrate their life: Sign The Petition. This will be sent to the families of those lost when all the signatures have been collected.

"you --just-- have to change your laws and to use your brains."

well, sounds like its soo easy.. i think its not just about changing laws (although i`m also against being able to buy guns everywhere), its about how people interact with each other, what are the main values that are published and taught in school, university, work, media... each day.
seems like its all about competition, performance and power. money makes the world go round, silly old saying but yes, if you can`t keep pace, poor you...
but there ARE alternatives, and its easy to blame on "these" and "those", at the end the german society (for example) isn`t so different from the U.S., and yeah things like that already happened at german schools as well!

let`s live alternatives! "capitalism kills" - lets build up society that fulfils human needs without graduate people by their "value" (or "race", gender or other stupid things) and let them theirselves (means: us ourselves) decide how to live, work, learn,...

cheers, lara

I was never in US but still from what we can read you have at least 2 problems to solve:

1st and most important is to change weapon police. In US anyone who has 5 minutes can buy any gun. If this seams to you normal than, hmmm, don't be surprise that thinks like this heppened. You can be happy that this is not an every day story. In my country you have next steps before you can buy gun, having at home but not wearing. Those steps are: 1. Psyho tests; 2. Special course for handeling guns; 3. Before you buy a gun you have to announce at goverment office; 4. When you buy a gun you have to come back to the goverment office and after the inspection they give you promission to have it.

To be sure that we understand each other I'm talking about gun not an ammunition. For having an ammunition there is another official procedure to get it.

The result of that policy is simple rarely happens that someone shout someone (1 per 2-3 years). The shoting that happened at the university is almost impossible in my country.

2nd thing that probably also need to be changed is the peoples minds. To achieve this it has to start with children. How you maltreat (physical and psychical) each other in schools no wonder.

In US you allways trying to save the world. We have a saying: First start with your self and clean your mess.

After you do that ....
